North-West Eagles are the first ever winners of the Bristol Under 14 Junior Rugby League competition, after a dramatic finals day at Aretians RFC on Sunday July 10.

The final of the inaugural Bristol Sonics Junior Rugby League season is taking place this Sunday 10th July, at Aretians RFC, matches to kick-off from 1pm.

Training will be taking place as usual on Wednesday evening at the following cluster club venues:

Bristol Sonics are launching a Summer 2011 under16s academy team, after being granted support from Wesport through the Sportivate funding programme.

Training will be held weekly at Filton College’s WISE campus, Tuesday evenings from 1745h sharp.

JUNIORS SHINE IN THIRD CLUSTER CLUB TOURNAMENT

The third Bristol Sonics Junior Rugby League tournament 2011 kicked-off in perfect Summer rugby conditions at Southmead RFC this Sunday.  The ground breaking junior rugby league competition has seen the creation of 3 strong teams, formed out the 6 cluster clubs initially established by the Sonics in May.  After the first two tournaments and 2 months of training the teams really started to hit their stride, with some fantastic rugby enjoyed by a thoroughly engaged crowd.

 

JUNIOR PLAYERS GET FIRST TASTE OF RUGBY LEAGUE

Over 50 junior RL players converged on the Brislington Enterprise College on Sunday to take part in the city’s first junior RL tournament for clubs. Following the successful Bristol Schools Tournament at the end of May, players from the Sonics’ six newly formed ‘Cluster Clubs’ were joined by Gloucester Meteors for the ground-breaking Under-14 competition.

Rugby League in Bristol will take a huge step forward this Sunday with the first West of England Junior Rugby League festival taking place for the six new junior teams that have been set-up across the city. The tournament will be held at Brislington Enterprise College, home of the Raptors, starting at 13:00.

Rugby League in Bristol is set to take a huge step forward this summer with the launch of six new junior teams across the city, and the region’s first U14 league.

Coaches and volunteers from Bristol Sonics, the city’s long-standing community club, will partner with contacts at key rugby union clubs, schools and colleges to run the new teams.

Sonics Academy U14s 28 V 68 Gloucestershire Meteors U14s

The Bristol Sonics U14s side showed tremendous spirit in the inaugural Sonics Academy fixture against Gloucestershire Meteors at Little Stoke Park.  Played in a 9s format the extra space and gruelling 60 minutes of Rugby suited Gloucester’s larger squad and more experienced players.   The Meteors made a close game look a little one-sided in the final quarter with the Sonics lads tiring.
