SONICS COACHES PICK UP AWARDS AT WEMBLEY
The season ended on a high for two of Bristol Sonics Stalwarts as they attended a VIP day out at the Challenge Cup Final. Dom Swann and Karl Fearnley were invited to attend the prestigious event by the RFL for their services to Rugby League after sharing the South West Volunteer Coach of the Year award.
Both Dom and Karl had a great day, meeting various dignitaries from the rugby league world (including ex-GB star Brian Carney, pictured) as well as enjoying the cup final. For Fearnley the day was even more successful, as he picked up the National Volunteer Coach of the Year Award, picking up his award on the pitch at half time in front of a capacity crowd, and even getting onto BBC TV.
Fearnley said, "It was brilliant to walk out onto the pitch, I only wish the moment could have been shared by the other hard working individuals at the club", " Awards like these can only help firm up the foundations of our club which we have put down over the past few years and I hope it inspires more people to support both ours and other rugby league clubs in our area in whatever way they can"
Bristol Sonics Chairman Phil Cole, who also attended the day said "I would like to thank Dom and Karl for all the hard work they have put in over the last few years. This is a great example of what has happened at Bristol. Not only the committee at Bristol but also the general number of volunteers has grown over the last couple of seasons and everyone is doing a great job"
