Junior players in Bristol got a taste of what’s to come over the summer with a Sonics Rugby League ‘Taster’ session for Under 14’s and Under 16’s on Sunday.
35 players were put through their paces by coaches Dan Brooker, Tristan Moore, Ian ‘Muddy’ Waters and Wijnand ‘Dutchy’ Wormhoudt at Dings Crusaders RFC. The session covered some of the basic skills of rugby league and finished with some game play.
Junior Head Coach Dan Brooker was impressed with both the turnout and the effort put in by the players: “It was great to see some new players joining those that were involved last year. The quality was good at both age groups and I’m sure we’re in for a successful and enjoyable season.”
U14 and U16 training sessions will continue from Sunday 2nd June (no session next week due to the bank holiday) and will run throughout the summer. A match programme is being developed with other teams from the South West and South Wales and will be announced shortly.
